NHL Lockout
...s are leaving the country just to play hockey. Some more players like Alex Tangay started a charity league in Canada, the league will play four on four and no checking will be allowed. Fans will be charged twenty dollars to watch and all the precedes will go to charity. By all of this you can tell that most of the players just want to play hockey, they don’t care if there making millions. Other players being affected by the lockout are this years rookies. Instead of playing for the pro’s they have to go back to their minor leagues and play with them. Rookies like Ryan Caldwell for the islanders will have to wait another year to start playing with the big boys. All the rookies this year are not to happy because they have to go back and play with there college teams. I think the fans are the most affected by this lockout though. Millions of fans all around the world have to miss out on hockey this year. Although only the real fans care about the hockey season falling into shambles because the NFL is starting college football is rolling along and baseball is in its pennant races so only the diehard fans will care. I’m sure there are others out there like me who really cant live without the season this year and are praying that some of the season can be saved. It is said that hockey has the most passionate fans and if they are lost then most likely the franchise will go down too. The NHL can’t live without its fans and it won’t if they were lost. If franchises are lost then all will probably be gone. All of the franchises will be affected by declining revenue in ticket prices, concessions and local television. Most of all, the loss of attendance. The different NHL teams will be hurt the most if fans don’t show up to watch. That is basically why they can survive, the fans pay for everything. I hope none of the teams have to be killed off because it wouldn’t be the same without them.
