great expectation
.... He is given the opportunity to go to London and to rise above his humble and upbringing. However comfortable his new lifestyle seems there proves to be no escape from the dark and hostile marshes he once called home. Many of the events from Dickens early life are mirrored in Great Expectations, which apart from David Copper field is his most autobiographical. Pip, the novels protagonist, lives in the marshes country, works at a job he hates, considers himself too good for his surroundings. Great Expectations begin in the marshes of Kent, where we first met pip sitting by his family’s tombstones. He is sitting there all alone in the marshes with no body around and the air is cool, the sky is beginning to grow dark, and unpleasant evening, and all of a sudden pip sees someone coming towards him, he doesn’t look properly as he has not got time to stay and look at him, and so he starts running as fast as he can. He runs and run but unfortunately he wasn’t lucky and crashes into the old man. The old man whom which pip was scared of when he saw him coming towards him. The old man catches him and searches pip if he had got anything with him, he turns pip upside down so that whatever is in his pockets fall out and only a small piece of bread fall out. Pip is surrounded by many different worlds. He has worlds in the marsh country, Miss Havishams house, the graveyard, and also he goes to London and he gets another life with other people.
