My favorite place in the house

There is a dark, wooden, mission style rocking chair in the opposite corner, its seat upholstered in brown leather, which creaks whenever someone sits to rock. A large upright piano, built in 1916, sits on one end of the room. It is garnished with many pictures of family and friends, much like a massive mantle of a fireplace. Our creamy walls appear to be wallpapered, although they were actually painted with a layered, feathering technique in cranberry red and taupe, which brings a rich texture to the plain white walls of the past. One of the walls has two large windows each covered with an off white, floor length, lacey curtain that allows the early morning sun to shine in.
