Pico's idea of man
...ther examples that relate to this idea are from the past. The Poplo Minuto revolt and when Pope Alex sold out Borgia for Romagna. These two examples and Pico’s idea convey the message of “the end justifies the means” as well. Genetic engineering is: Scientific alteration of the structure of genetic material in a living organism. It involves the production and use of recombinant DNA and has been employed to create bacteria that synthesize insulin and other human proteins. Machiavelli interpreted human nature, and decided what is and what isn’t, and what should be and what shouldn’t be, in order to be a successful prince. “He can cultivate the “slave the senses, the brute, the animal” or he can cultivate reason/ the intellectual side and “emulate the angels”, is another idea of Pico. An example from the renaissance period is when Cosimo de Medeci didn’t become a slave to senses. He quoted “envy is a plant which should not be watered”. He could have spent money lavishly and flaunted his wealth, but instead he chose to be modest. ….. A situation from present day is racism. We can stop it by persuading people, who is cultivating ones mind. The last of the ideas, “Creator wanted man to reflect on the reason behind creation.” relates to many ideas, past and present, as well. ...
