The questions brought up in this case were about separation of church and state. The Supreme Court states that the first amendment doesn’t say that in every or all aspects should there be separation of church and state. When the state has religious programs and cooperates with religious authorities “it follows the best of our traditions", stated the supreme court during the case. it isn’t found in the constitution that the government shows an indifference to religious groups.” Because of this case in 1952 they proposed a bill for a released time in public schools it became a law and was legal in 1962. The bill titled Released time (rt) allows public school students to leave school for religious based Instruction. Even though this has been legal since 1962, many school boards don’t know about it so students miss the participation. The released time bill passed has many benefits including improved student behavior, grades, or an increase in bad behavior, it also provides a positive peer pressure for students to learn and understand moral values. Clauson being the New York City program won the case because of the supreme courts statement of explaining the funding.
