Prayer in schools.

Some people say that making prayer an official part of a school day brainwashes younger students. They also say that religion is private and that schools are public and that the two should not mix. They quote the bible "...Thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men...but thou, when thou prayest, enter into the closet, and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret..."(Matt. 6:5-6). When there is prayer and religion in schools they believe that minorities are singled out and persecuted. Also they believe that although schools may say that prayer is "voluntary", students may be pressured to participate, and that this is endorsing and promoting prayer. Others think that we have changed our views and that people will not be pressured to participate, and that we aren't as religiously prejudice as we used to be....
