We are born into a place we did not create, something we have no previous knowledge of and concepts and ideas that are completely foreign to us. With time our awareness of our world extends beyond our household, neighborhood and region to encompass many other parts of the world. All facets of our existence are products of much longer periods of development, and their permanence and change remain only dimly evident to us until we begin to learn something about the past. We learn this via traditional (schools) and non-traditional (social interaction) means about the prior events that shape and mold us. This helps to understand where we came from and where others have gone.
