However, women in third world countries may lack the right to be educated; in some countries they are not allowed to own or be left land and are generally less well paid than men. Disasters Disasters are frequently sudden. They cause tremendous damage, devastation and human pain. Countries who live in poverty normally suffer the most because: They are very defenceless to start with. Their houses aren't built of the best quality materials. If they do live in houses the materials they are made from are unstable as they are made from what the inhabitants can find. They have nothing to fall back on. If they lose their crops due to a drought they cannot afford to buy food.
