...ents give birth to an Asian or Caucasian child. A descendant will have the same physical characteristics as their ancestor. For as many generations that I can trace, all of my ancestors have been of the same color as I. The word “race” can have so many different meanings. It can be used to describe one person or it can be a whole class of people across the entire globe. Most traits are inherited from one another. Skin color is only on the outside. Race does not mean the genetic make-up of a human. Genes for a person’s skin color are not relevant to a person’s hair texture, the shape of their eyes, their physical talents or athletic abilities, or even their blood type. When asked what race a friend is, I respond White, Black, Asian Indian, etc. I define myself as White, not just because that is the color of my skin, but because that is the class of people I believe I fall under. People defined as Black are not just black in color. But yet, that is the class they fall under. Asian is not a color but it is a word used to describe people of Asian decent. Their classes are loosely described and open for many different forms of a race. For example, an extremely dark colored person from Kenya and an Albino African-American person from the United States would both fall under the class known as black. Their skin color is quite different, but they have very similar physical characteristics. Many years ago, a person would be characterized on their social status or where in the city they lived. Now, a Black person that lives in the wealthiest community in Beverly Hills would be considered the same race as a Black homeless man living und...
