... USA but I don’t think that they should do that because there have been cases that they killed the wrong person and then they got the real murderer and in the end killed 2 people. Chapter 5 1.I think that back then school was really useless for them but now you need school to get a good job even though most of the things you learn your not going to use and you’ll forget them. 2.It made them think that there is no point of living for them because even if they survive they are going to have to work very hard. 3.He means that they know how to play games during rest and know what’s everything about and how to fight. Chapter 6 1.It means that he has a chance to get hit or a chance to survive everything is a matter of luck out there. 2.Increase in rats means that the trenches are no longer in good conditions. 3.As the war goes on everyone gets more hungry and is exhausted. 4.Most of the recruits use bayonet which is a little worse than the sharped spade and they don’t know how to fight very well. 5.He’s cut off from his past because he sees no future so he just doesn’t care anymore and his reaction is pretty severe. 6.They have lost 118 men. Chapter 7 1.They spend their time by playing card games, eating, drinking, they are just trying to have the best time they can because they never know if they are going to see tomorrow. 2.He feels happy that he’s finally going back home after such a long time. 3.He gets very weak and emotional, and after is glad that she didn’t ask him lots of questions about the war. 4.He sees that the war changes them a lot. 5.Paul doesn’t feel that he belongs back home, he wants to be alone, and would like to live the past again. 6.It is so emotionally filled because this might be the last time Paul sees his mother, and she is dying too because of cancer. Chapter 8 1.He tells us that they are fearful, look like meek, scalded, St. Bernord dogs and have to pick up all the garbage in the camp. 2.Paul said that a word of command has made them their enemies. 3.He plays but no one can hear him well, and it sounds different than it should. 4.Because this is probably the last tie Paul is going to see his father and sister and then he has to go back to the front. Chapter 9 1.a)People start all the wars. b)Because most people are greedy and don’t want to talk about it so they fight for power. c)There is no point in war. 2.He says that it makes generals and all the high ranked people very famous. 3.He agrees because he feels a strange attachment to them, they have to see how strongly the enemy position is manned. 4.Paul started to strike the body then he went back to his original position. 5.Paul feels everything now he’s not immune to death anymore, his leave has made him soft he feels terrible when the soldier is dying and tries to save him. 6.Becase he experiences the whole thing, it takes a long time for the man to die and this was the first time Paul has killed someone with his hands. Chapter 10 1.I think it would be the same because I wouldn’t like to suffer through out my life. 2.Most of the time people back then and people now die by themselves without anyone in their room. 3.It shows because people go in and out, come in and the most of them go die in they dying room. Chapter 11 1.Onlye difference is that a soldier has a gun and education which he doesn’t even use. 2.Because without it everyone would be doing what they want and no one would trust each other. 3.Because its impossible to stop them, they just keep going and kill, even deadly shells are nothing for them. Chapter 12 1.He says that they all look at things differently now and no one is going to be able to understand them and only a few will adapt to the whole new life. Final Page 1.At the end Paul dies in peace. 2.It’s ironic because he didn’t get shot but died from natural causes. ...
