...l. Due to Putnam's Congregation, the following would happen. Putnam formed the congregation with Samuel Parris. Parris would serve As it's reverent. His origin was in Barbados. There he owned land that was once His father’s. He came to Salem in The 1680s with two of his slaves. He also had Three children and a wife named Elizabeth, and then shortly after became a minister. Actually, minister of the new congregation. With that, he received a Title and Surrounding land. That would be the reason for Salem's village and town Separation. But some wanted to stay part of Salem's town part. By this, they’d Refuse to pay worship and taxes. By not paying that, Parris's salary would also Not be fully paid since that was the money he was receiving for him. Now Parris Would have to work for money since people weren't paying him The money he used to receive from them. Parris had a niece named Abigail. Parris was known to be strict with girls. They couldn't play certain games. If they were to play he thought he was being Worked by the Devil for mischief. So the girls would mainly read in order to Entertain them. They'd mainly read about fortune Telling and prophecy. From there, the girls would move on to forming circles that would be used To practice fortune telling. Shortly after practicing such, the girls would start Acting strange and Whatnot. They'd become violent out of the blue and Experience huge amounts of stress. Not to mention seizures and trances. All was Becoming VERY weird. They weren't the only girls. Soon After, MORE girls would begin to suffer the same effects. A physician would be called. The results were no physical cause of such Behavior, but Mental was positive. It was said to be due to witchcraft. They were Possessed.Parris heard of such results, and could only pray for them. He Believed evil reached their souls. Parris would soon Believe Tituba, one of his Slaves, was torturing his daughter. He’d go on to beat and abuse her Until she confessed. February 29, 1692, warrant for their arrest happened. After Arrested, two Magistrates, John Hawthorne and Jonathan Corwin would go to Salem to investigate the women. Tituba was found guilty, and as it was known, Witchcraft Users would be punished by death. Tituba had decided to confess Whether she did it or not. She knew farther punishment from Parris would be the Result if she hadn’t confessed to the crimes. She also thought the judge would Show some Mercy or whatnot. She also confessed since she believed that she Was indeed a Witch since she practiced white magic? Her confess would leave Her talking about multi colored rats, speaking cats, and men of tall height Dressing in black Attire. Her confession would say that the men in black had her Sign in books which were owned by the devil? If that was so, she must have Seen an idiot since who signs books owned by the devil. Moving on, harder to Believe, she Said she actually SAW the devil. She said he would appear as a dog Or a hog. Tituba then apologized for hurting Elizabeth if she happened to do so in Any way. She said she would never do it on purpose since she loved Elizabeth. Tituba Would be then taken to jail Witchcraft accusations would continue. March 11th, 1692, Ann Putnam Jar Was showing signs of using witchcraft. The same type of signs the girls had Previously went through. Later other girls/women would suffer the symptoms. Mercy Lewis, Mary Walcott, and Mary Warren were the women. Putman Jar would Go on to accuse a woman named Martha Corey of using witchcraft. Corey fit the Description of a suspect near perfectly. She was outspoken and full of opinion on Anything. Those types of things...
