Obviously with increasing power given to the Bush administration, it is able to set up a near totalitarian system, where there are no checks or balances on the administration, at Guantanamo. At Guantanamo, the administration can do whatever he wants, acting like a dictator in the area. Clearly, The Bush administration believes that the war on terror justifies almost anything apparently even including torture which the detainees have to face at Guantanamo. It seems as though after becoming a president, the Bush administration has sufficient power to gain even more power after using the war on terror as an excuse. This increase in power furthermore gave him to ability to ignore international rules and conventions. It was only after six months when the decision finally came clear, which means near six months of torture for the innocent people who were in the end found innocent. After six months, the United Nations human rights experts had to urge the US to give them access to their detention facilities. This clearly shows that US had more power than the UN. Not only do the new powers acquired by the Bush administration affect Guantanamo, the United States also seem to be adopting war policies similar to the most aggressive states of modern history like Nazi Germany which forced Czech state to disarm after Munich. Such war policies are similar to America demanding the disarmament of Iraq as well as the assertion of the right of attack with deadly force, which including nuclear weapons. This aggressive posture by the USA certainly has caused them to appear as the most warlike country in the world today, and the administration's desire to place weapons in space aimed down at the Earth can only show the world the outstanding power of the USA and Bush administration which was only given to them due to the war on terrorism.
