She takes this job very seriously and is always striving to keep the company’s services the best they can be. Bi-weekly meeting are held to reassess goals and methods used to achieve them. The ultimate goal of the company is to provide the best personal care possible to individuals as they go through life. The second function of management is organizing. Organizing involves delegating tasks, assigning authority, and issuing control of resources to other workers across various departments of the company. Ann currently uses the learning organization style. This seems like an appropriate style given the nature of the business. Thirdly, managers must be strong leaders. Leading the workers to be motivated in the work and services they are providing is a very important aspect of management. Ann started working for the firm as an entry-level caregiver. She moved up over the years to a management position and ultimately was asked to take over as director. She is a good leader and tries to be fair and honest with everyone. But a fault she seems to possess is showing favoritism to certain personnel or consumers. The final function managers perform is controlling employees, keeping the company on track towards company goals and making adjustments as needed. The company Ann directs is current under major financial changes. With recent government cuts to the company’s budget her job has become increasingly difficult. Ann and her employees have had to develop new ways to provide the same level of care to clients as they did in the past. Households have been combined and employee hours have been cut, at the same time increasing employee workload and responsibilities. Conceptualization is the ability to see the organization as a whole and the relationship among its parts. Ann seems to have mastered this skill. She understands how the company teams work together and how the company as a whole fits into the community. Ann is constantly keeping employees and consumers abreast of developments in government policy and legislation. She directs people to the proper individuals that may be able to help improve legislation for disabled people. She encourages everyone to vote. The ability to work with and through people and to work effectively as a group member is known as human skill, a good manager should have this.
