...re what sport you play, I will always continue to watch you.” Football developed my body more than any other sport has because it forced me to get, as Carl Fruechte says, “bigger, stronger, and faster.” The weight room developed my legs, arms, back, and chest. The main lifts for football include squats, power cleans, bench press, and roman dead lifts. These lifts brought much pain, agony, and sweat but they remain vital for matching up against 200-plus pound men. All these lifts have made me as powerful as the head lion in the jungle. I played cornerback and place kicker for Caledonia these lifting helped me get where I stand today. Overall, football has changed my physical mentality so I have became more powerful. When I played football, I set hard goals for myself. The goals included making varsity, starting at cornerback, and tackling my opponents. My first two goals went hand-in-hand because I made the varsity team and started as a junior. I had exceptional speed and I could cover my opponents very well. My next goal became one of the biggest goals I have ever set, and that consists of me tackling my opponents. In my junior year, I could not tackle, and that goes with my lack of self-confidence. I can remember what went through my head during game, “Please tackle this guy.” The next thing I knew, my body froze and I would miss the tackle. I always tried thinking of positive comments; for example I would say, “I know I can tackle this guy,” but my advice never seemed to work. Then when I came into my senior year of football, that all changed. I had a conversation with my defensive coordinator in the small, dark locker room. His advice for me, has changed my way of thinking during a football game, literally! He told me, “Do not think just do it and do it for yourself.” Going into that season, I had a new outlook on football, self-confidence. During the season, I made game saving tackles that led our team to victories. I tackled as good as a cowboy brought down runaway heifers.
