Instead, they believe that Celil Jacobs is merely trying to play a trick on them. This technique is effective because the reader is feeling suspense for the children that are unsuspecting. Another characteristic of the child’s perspective is the dramatic influence that the children possess. Instead of Dill holding back his feelings during Tom Robinson’s trial and trying to act tough, he responds the way all the ‘tough guys’ want to; Dill cries. The children have a love-hate relationship with Boo Radley that is very dramatic. They love the idea of Boo, and trying to see him.
