who you really are

...t thinking to myself why do we as people have to be categorized in some way.  I still believed that it was absurd to consider myself as German, but I just nodded my head and seemed to agree with the man just so I can leave his office.  I was born in Germany, but I am Armenian.         Sometimes, I wonder why people even ask the question, "What are you?"  Seriously, there is not just one word that can describe what or who you are.  I also strongly believe there is not a definition of any kind to describe a person.  In the dictionary, the word definition means, 'a statement conveying fundamental character.'  I do not feel there is a specific statement to identify a person or their characteristics.  We are all unique in many ways.    I am Armenian.  Growing up, I was raised as an Armenian.  My family and I celebrate all the Armenian traditions.  The first language I spoke when I was younger was Armenian.  Then, of course, once I started going to preschool I learned to speak English as well.  Most significantly, I even graduated from an Armenian school which I would attend every Saturday for twelve years.  I was also raised somewhat religious.  Most Armenians are very religious.  Armenians practice religion by the Christian Orthodox tradition.  As a child, I would usually go to an Armenian church with my parents every Sunday.  As a result to being extremely involved in the Armenian community, I improved my  knowledge about my ethnicity. Being Armenian is more than just saying it verbally to people.  It has a strong meaning and depth to it.  The history of my people and country is what makes me who I am in this present time and also future.  Being Armenian to me means being apart of a group of people who were the first as a nation to except Christianity.  Yerevan, Armenia, the capital of ancient churches that are all in ruins today but are still beautiful even though they are crumbled.  Armenia is also the original homeland of Mount Ararat & Mount Masis.  Now those two mountains are only what we can dream of touching and stand near for it now lays in eastern Turkey.  My people fought for their lands throughout the centuries and never gave up.  During the Armenian Genocide my great grandp...
