...lf included. Although the company has not publicly announced a lay-off, their actions have caused tension. They have stated that the company is always dedicated to its employees and is constantly trying to improve policies and procedures. The most recent scare came when the new Human Resources Benefits & Policies Manual was distributed to all of the employees. It contained many changes to the benefits we receive and most importantly it stressed the company’s “At Will” policy. They required everyone to sign an acknowledgement that the company has the right to fire an employee for any reason at anytime without notice. This coupled with the recent changes is enough to have most people not only updating their resumes but also sending them out to potential employers. From a business standpoint I can see the logic in closing the hubs and having all of their employees work from the headquarter office. It would cut down the overhead costs because the satellite offices would no longer have to be leased, they would not have to pay employees in different states (such as California) the higher wages to match the cost of living within the area, and they could eliminate the shipping costs of the satellite offices shipping paperwork to headquarters after receiving it from the sales people. It seems to me this is a very smart move for the company financially but demoralizing to the employees with the threat of layoff or job elimination.
