...l field, even though he was not clear as to why. As time passed and his ball field was completed, Ray witnessed the fruits of his labor as the divine grace of God was revealed to him. One by one, they came—not just ordinary men—but many heroic figures—ball players of Ray’s past. The men would join him and play on his field. While Ray could watch, speak to and even play ball with these men, most others could not, for these ball players were not men of the physical world and could not be seen by ordinary men. Only those who truly believed in the power of God were able to witness and experience this miracle. Ray was a man who was entirely unselfish, instead he dedicated his life to his wife his child and God; he would sacrifice anything in order to please them. When God asked Ray to “Build it and he will come”, he answered by building a baseball field. A field of dreams—a field for the Lord—a holy place where God could make his presence known. This response, to the perceived call of the Lord, demonstrates Ray’s dedication to God and his willingness to go to any lengths to satisfy God’s command. In return, for Ray’s untiring, unquestioning labor, the Lord grants Ray one of the greatest gifts of this miraculous story.
