Having saved the world in the first book “Time Stops for no mouse” Hermux was set to return to his old life- watch making, but it seems some mice all destined for greater things- and Hermux’s ordinary days are well and truly over. This time Hermux is on an adventure that could change mouse history forever! Hermux is in love with adventuress Linka Perflinger and together with acheologist Birch Tentitrotter they follow a trail of clues to prove that the Kingdom of Cats really did exist. The Rat Race is on, as Hermux and friends tries to reach the tomb first before evil villain Hinkum Stepfilcher. Hermux soon finds himself in The Great Desert to dig up where all truth lies buried. The desert setting provides a mysterious background, giving a dramatic atmosphere to the plot. The plot is interesting to read but the story is slightly drawn out and not to the point. It’s slow to start and gives us every little detailed description of the characters. The chapters involving the search for the Cat’s Library was without a doubt my favourite part of the book as the reader can’t wait to read more.
