Although, September 11 happened a while ago, people still talk about it and make reference to it. 9/11 took away our sense of security away, not only in the USA but in all of North America. Everyone was terrified. This Tsunami just recently occurred and it’s on CNN and was in the news. This terrible act of nature killed over 147,000 more people that 9/11 yet it hasn’t had quite the same effect on our society. Sure when we heard about it we thought it was horrible and were sad about it but there were no impulse buying, no one raised their prices and you’ll soon forget this even happened. September 11 took a year to clean up after, yet people will always be afraid of “the treat of terrorism” yet, the tsunami caused so much damage that it will take over 10 years to get it back to normal. A year from now are u going to be afraid to go to Vancouver or go anywhere along the ocean coast? I personally, don’t think many people will. Even though there are many differences in how these disasters effected our society, there are some similarities. Everyone in North America was there to help. Charities have been set up and celebrities, the governments and corporations are doing events to help raise money for these disasters. George Bush created coalitions for both tragedies.
