Relations between the two nations after the Second World War were more negative than positive because Soviets feared of an invasion of Russia and the two nations had different political ambitions which ultimately lead to the Cold War. Russia had suffered much more than the USA in both world wars and their leader, Stalin, was worried about the security of his country. Russia and the United States stayed far apart from each other during the years of conflict of the two superpowers and the nuclear and missile arms race which could of broke out into a nuclear war at any time. The relationship that had grown between both Russia and the USA, and the fact that the USA was the only major country to not accept the Soviet Union resulted in a lot of pressure to the USA to recognize their form of government. Even though the USA and the Soviet Union had common aims to help control the growing powers of Germany and Japan, they were unable to work together in any secure action.
