Harveys Cruel Intentions

He even adds in, “Why don’t you run and tell your mother, then?” pg150. This is also not the last time he abuses the dog. He also teases the dog with a doughnut and puts pepper in Nanuk’s eyes from an envelope. He even pulled out a slingshot and hit Nanuk in the throat. Lastly he lit matches and put them ion Nanuk’s head .burning him. These actions make the reader stop and think about how cruel Harvey is and that he should be punished for these actions. Another incident that makes Harvey such a villain and thought provoking person is the theft of the telescope. Roddie says he left the telescope on the front lawn by the gate and that it is gone and not long ago he saw Harvey ride away on his bike. Vanessa suspects that it was Harvey because it is the only person that seems guilty for the crime. Later on Vanessa and her Grandfather go to Harvey’s house to ask for the stolen telescope. Harvey first pretends to be asleep and then after being smacked in the face with a wooden spoon, grins and goes to search for it and comes back and simply throws the telescope, gives Vanessa a scornful look and sits back down on his sofa.
