...hey had their first public meeting in November of 1999 and have recruited over 85 members and established 17 active committees, public transportation being one of them. The goal of this committee is to continue their support and encouragement of new-or expansion of existing-community services that can connect citizens to services outside of our rural area, such services for youth after school programs, medical, work, shopping, mental health, dental, transportation for those in the criminal system who need to connect to court services and provide a way for the youth in our community to safely travel to and from the neighboring city of Sandy for such activities as movies, swimming, and school activities. We will achieve our goals by providing a one-year public transportation demonstration project, which will aid the community in determining the detail needs and times of services. This one-year demonstration project will also aid the committee in determining ridership demographics. Progress steps for this committee will include: Forming of the steering committee which will be the guiding decision making body to formulate the structure, seek funding, conduct community survey’s, and facilitate the grant and organizing process, hire consultants, work w...
