Bill Clinton
... Everyone lies every once in awhile but I don’t do it for sport. I don’t engage in suspicious behavior that would leave me susceptible to run-ins with the authorities such as sex in cars and public inebriation. Examining my own ethical standards is a very trying thing to do correctly and truthfully because of the simple fact that what may be right for me may be grossly wrong for someone else and vice versa. I wouldn’t do anything illegal to gain money because going to jail would critically cramp my style. I have come to the realization that I am heartless at times but I don’t see that as ethically wrong. Overall, I am an ethical person but I wouldn’t say that I am any more or less ethical than the average person in the present day and time. II. On Monday, August 19, 1946, William Jefferson Clinton (born William Jefferson Blythe IV) was born in Hope, Arkansas. Today, he is most commonly known as President Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States, running two terms in succession from January 20th, 1993 until January 20, 2001. Shortly after taking office, Clinton fulfilled a campaign promise by signing the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, which required large employers to allow their employees to take unpaid leave because of a family or medical emergency. On September 19, 1994, President Clinton passed the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act that banned the manufacturing of nineteen specific semi-automatic weapons along with other restrictions pertaining to weapons. Also while in office, he authorized a $100 million anti-terrorism agreement with Israel to track down and root out terrorists although the effectiveness of that decision is still in question. Overall, President Clinton was a good president and did a lot of good for America but when reminisced upon, people don’t think about the bills that he passed or how well he swooned the audience with his saxophone. The one thing comes to mind when his name is mentioned and that is Monica Lewinsky. The presidential scandal with Monica Lewinsky swept the nation overnight. When the issue first hit the paper, many Americans went into shock. Most could not believe that the almighty president of the United States had engaged in sexual acts inside the symbolic Oval Office. To put the situation on the table, President Clinton has been involved with an intern at the White House and had engaged her in acts of sexual explicitly. After all of that hit the fan, America saw the emergence of Ken Starr who documented everything imaginable on the president. Why is this a matter of public interest? To put it plainly, America can’t have their leader getting down and dirty in the White House. Obviously this was a nightmare for Pres. Clinton and had to be addressed with caution because, by the way, he is in the place of the highest seat in America. This is when the famous quote of “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky” was burned into the intellect of many Americans who tuned into his nation-wide address. “Slick Willy” had addressed the issue and now America could move on knowing that what the president said on live television is the God honest truth and this Monica woman is just a ploy to bring him down. This should have cleared everything up but there was this really rude and intrusive individual named Ken Starr. Mr. Starr was unstoppable in his quest to prove that Pres. Clinton was really the “Big Dog” that his fans proclaimed him to be to adamantly. After much investigation and imposition, Mr. Starr had accumulated a very impressive amount of evidence about Pres. Clintons’ indiscretions. Now his blatant statement of what he didn’t do is losing its believability. Now what seemed to clear up a problem has become a problem in and of itself. The American public has been lied to and it burns like a tan on the equator. Eventually, an apology to the nation has to be prearranged. Some Americans accept it becaus...
