Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby) Gatsby is lost in what happened in the past and cannot move on without dreaming of Daisy. During the story, Nick is acquainted to Gatsby at a party and immediately finds out about their ironic connection. During the war they both served together without knowledge, at this amazement they form a good friendship. Gatsby tells Nick about his love for Daisy and how he had even lied to her about his achievements to make himself sound good enough for her. Together they make a plan to secretly reunite the couple without knowledge on Daisy’s part. Gatsby had planned that Nick would invite Daisy over for tea and Gatsby would be there. They would be forced to see each other and talk about the life they missed together. Daisy comes, and Gatsby being nervous, breaks a lamp. Nick cleans it up, and when he notices them getting along to well, leaves them alone to be with each other. Gatsby’s dream of being with Daisy was partially accomplished, leaving out the part that she was still married and loves her husband.
