... 100 18 to 21 year olds I asked 37% said they did vote. 53% said that they weren’t interested in politics and that it did really matter whether they voted or not because they were just one person among many and 10% didn’t know where or how to vote. Therefore I came to the conclusion that people weren’t educated enough to know all these things and that they had no clue what to do and how to do it. So it fell upon me, the even younger generation to try and sort things out, as per usual. Education is one area that I think we are failing in. By the time we leave secondary school young people should know everything they need to know, on not just politics but how to vote, and that every vote counts. Many youngsters in this day and age think that is doesn’t matter because their vote won’t count. This is totally untrue, and we need to get young men and women to realize this. Recently a member of the BMP was voted into House of Commons, some people are convinced that the number of BNP supporters is on the rise, but believe differently. I believe that the only reason that they were voted in was because there weren’t enough young people voting. Fear is a powerful motivation for most people, and you could use this to get young people to vote. If the government could get sponsors should as Nike or Addias it would appeal a wider variety of young people. Accessibility is another problem that needs to be address.
