He governed the Italian state of Florence, which flourished during his time. The Di Medeci family were so proud of the state of Florence and they wanted to citizens of Florence to be proud of is too. Lorenzo wanted to give back to the community of Florence. So Lorenzo invested his money into art, education and architecture to make the state beautiful.
