...rous melodies have, and will for many years to come, be unconsciously hummed by even the most music-dense caliber of people. He can be called many things, but revolutionary must be one of them “Dun dun dun DUN…..dun dun dun DUNNN”: a tune that will inevitably pass through the ears of everyone at least once in their lifetime, the work of no other than the great Beethoven himself. Many people are unaware of actually how influential Beethoven’s work has been to the world up until this day. For example, everyone knows the famous theme to the movie JAWS. That’s right, that catchy hook originated from Beethoven’s 5th symphony. He was a revolutionary of music. He was definitely not the first great composer, following the work of Back and Haydn. Yet, Beethoven’s music was so revolutionary because he did things to music that no one had ever witnessed before, and still to this day, have not been matched. His music painted pictures far stronger than images themselves; particularly images that people were not used to seeing (or hearing…?). Beethoven’s music expressed his innermost feelings through dynamics and movements. He was almost always in love, proposing to a number of women throughout his life. In fact, one of his most famous pieces “Moonlight Sonata” was written after the rejection of his proposal to Countess Giuletta had been turned down. He sat at his piano as moonlight beams came through the windows of his flat, unable to find words for what he was feeling.
