Mythical Form in the Hebrew Scriptures

One example of myth could be the first creation story found in the book of Genesis, written by the Priestly writers in 450 BC. In the first book of creation, God created the earth in seven days. This was symbolic of a six day work week, which was followed by a day for the Sabbath. Obviously, this story was created by someone from a more advanced society. It’s human nature to explain the unexplainable and define the indefinable, which explains the reasoning for these writings. The writers of the first creation story wanted to explain the question of how we came to be. What brought us here; what organized our way of life. Somethings cannot be explained, yet we search for the answers. The writers of the first creation story were attempting to explain the meaning of human existence. They most likely saw existence through religious perspective. Thus the first story of creation in which God created the world, including humankind. I look at life from a very scientific perspective and I have always felt that this creation story conflicts with some of my personal points of views. How could the world be created in seven days?
