...ryans organized themselves in three groups. The first group was the warriors. They were called the Kshatriya. The second group was the priest called Brahmin. The third group was the farmer and the craftsmen called Vaishya. The Aryans who conquered and took over parts of northern India subdued the locals and made then their servants. In this process the Vaishya became the landlords and businessmen of the society. The locals became the peasants and the craftsmen of the society. The caste system has five classes the Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Sudra, and the untouchables or Harijans. Brahmins are the highest class in the caste system. They are often priests and teachers in the society. The Kshatriya are the nobles, fighters, rulers, aristocrats, warriors, and the political leaders. The Brahmin, Kshatriya, and the Kshatriya are the people who are twice-born. This has nothing to do with reincarnation but a person who is twice born is born once as a baby and then goes through the same ritual to become an adult. The lowest class is the Sudras.
