Death complements religion as biblical allusions of death such as the death of John the Baptist and the scene with Lazarus are used. The images within the are very vivid and striking. It helps the reader to somewhat try to understand the content and context of the poem. Eliot uses literary devices such as synechdoches, similes and metaphors within 'The love song of Prufrock'.
