Lab: Iodination of Acetone.

The first part of the lab involved creating solutions of differing concentrations with regard to our three active ingredients ( water was ignored ) and then gaging the time it took to react and lose the color of the iodine. After timing each run twice and finding an average time we were able to derive the rates of reactions. By calculating the moles of the substance consumed in the reaction, and then dividing the number of moles consumed by our ƒ´t value, we were able to figure out reaction rates. We then had to derive the orders which each of substances had in the reaction. By using the calculation for moles(concentration), we were able to plug it into our form and compare the changes in rate to the changes in concentration from one reaction to the other.
