Somewhere between now and when Feed took place, the environment has almost completely deteriorated. When Titus and his friends were in the hospital on the Moon, Violet took Titus to a large window which over looks the hospitals courtyard to look at the scenery but the glass ceiling had cracked leaving everything living in the terrarium lifeless. “But a long time ago the glass ceiling over the terrarium had cracked, and so everything was dead, and there was moon dust all over everything out there. Everything was gray (52).” I feel that a hospital is almost obliged to provide the people staying there with atleast something to look at outside. . Something to perhaps give the patients a little bit of hope, something with life. Another example of Titus’s world’s environment being in shambles is when a sunset is being describe and the word Clouds TM comes up. “There were some weather blimps in front of us. They were all yellow in the sunset that was spreading over the Clouds TM” (66). This signifies that the corporations now own the clouds and now make them in any shape or design they please. This definitely is not a natural environment. And lastly the corporations that exist in Titus’ world have become so big that they’ve began to take over The United States Of America. The schools in Titus’ world are called School TM because they aren’t government funded. “On Monday, I went into School TM and I was sitting in homeroom when I saw that Calista had her hair up in this new way, and on the back of her neck was this total insane macro-lesion that I never even saw before” (145).
