...ck home. I’m getting very homesick and I miss my family. I also wish I could eat something more than dried fish, roots and horse. I am not the biggest fan of fish but I would rather eat that than horsemeat. Also, most of the time we have to eat the horsemeat raw and there are to little portions of it because there are so many people here. Anyways, it was around eleven a.m. when the weather was clearing up and we started walking. At first, it was slow going but then we reached the Missouri River in about two hours. Then we saw a new species of fish. It was about nine inches long and it was a beautiful white color. Its body was round and its body and fins were like the White Chub (which is common in the Potomac River). This new fish’s head was small and it had vicious looking teeth. Its eyes were moderately large and a purple color. We discovered when trying to catch it that it bit at meat or grasshoppers. The fish which we now call the *White Rainbow does not taste as good as it looks. It has a very soft flesh, which makes it mushy. While we were traveling, I noticed that the mountains around us were very beautiful. They had snow-covered caps and they had a misty look to them. Below them were hundreds of beautiful trees and flowers and much more grass. The snow on the mountains seemed to make the river sparkle. Well, after we had experienced the wonderful surroundings, we started looking for other human beings. I was staring very closely into the woods and I thought I saw an Indian.
