The Spending of the Tsunami relief

...Iraq and other Asian countries. I can understand that we would give that much money to countries that were destroyed by a natural disaster, but putting billions of dollars into a country that we destroyed in a war makes a little less sense. We gave a total of $350 million to the struggling Asian countries which does sound like a whole lot, but in all reality it isn’t. Our country spends that same amount of money in just three days on the “rebuilding” process in Iraq. At least as a country we know that the $350 million in Asia is being used for good and is helping return millions of people to their normal harmless lifestyles. On the other hand, do we really know what good the over half a billion dollars a week is doing in a country we just had a war with? When we are done fixing our own mistake in Iraq it will have cost us over $100 billion, and what good will come of it? In my life time Iraq has never been one of our country’s allies and I don’t believe that a large part of any of our imports come from that country. Instead of helping this country rebuild, which seems like it would be a never ending battle, I believe that we should try to perfect our welfare system.
