The availability of these lower priced goods does not have such a dramatic negative effect on the employment rates of progressive countries like the Unites States as one would imagine. While there would be a decline in the number of unskilled jobs available in countries like the United States, the number of skilled jobs will continue to sharply increase due to specialization in the high-tech markets and an increase in the demand for skilled employees required for competition in such markets. These skilled jobs not only pay the employees a higher hourly wage, but they also provide countries like the United States with a leading edge in the high-tech industry. While many components of electronic items ultimately end up being manufactured in foreign countries, the skilled and high-paying jobs necessary to engineer and develop these new products remain in countries like the United States where there are better education opportunities to train skilled employees to engineer and develop these complex and valuable items.
