Heudeggar vs. Simmel
...mmel and Martin Heideggar proved this in the essays “The Handle” and “The Thing”. Basically I believe both men attempted to give reason to the way the world works. Point of the matter is, there is no logical explanation. It is actually quite humorous, both men used a pouring vessel to represent and simplify the “complexity” of life. Truth is; it’s more uncomplicated than one allows it to be. It is not tangible for a reason. [It: meaning the unexplainable]. Heideggar and Simmel believe in the connectedness of everything. Heideggar believes it connects in fourfold. Meaning that four aspects, earth, sky, divinities and mortals, are in accordance and one is not thought of without thinking of the other, therefore they exist entirely in the presence of one another. Simmel believes in the connectedness in two fold; the real and the ideal world. Basically, both men are exemplifying the tangible and the intangible; the material and the aesthetic, the things that really exist and those that do not. What intrigues me most is Heideggars theory of nearness. In our time, the physical distance is no longer the impossible. Getting physically near something very far is as simple as a plane ride.
