Both elections expanded Republican majorities for the first time since the McKinley administration. The Senate Minority Leader was defeated in the Bush sweep – the first time that happened in 52 years. Good riddance, Tom Daschle! And Louisiana elected its first Republican Senator – ever! Not bad for a man constantly portrayed as a "dunce" and "divider" by his mean-spirited and hateful left-wing opponents.
