Introduction Definitions: Hacker The term Hacker refers to a person who enjoys exploring the details of programmable systems and how to stretch their capabilities, as opposed to most uses that prefer to learn only the minimum necessary. Cracker The term Cracker refers to a person who breaks security on a system. Another meaning for a cracker is a person who cracks software. Crackers break or crack passwords to a computer or a network that they do not have permission to use.
