... I don’t think the gun is the only thing that killed her; I believe it was more sexism but mainly ignorance. Ignorance and discrimination played a major role in “Adams Rib”, and thankfully women have come along way since those times. They are now more intimidating and are often the aggressors in a relationship, in some cases even being physically abusive. In the past 60 or so years since its release, the American perception of a woman has dramatically changed into one that is of equality, respect, and in some instances fear. Men used to look down upon women as being weaker, inferior, or incompetent, but that was a long time ago. The females of today have just as much a voice as any man we meet. As far as homosexuality is concerned, it has come a long way as well, from being completely appalling and unspeakable to knowing parades and slogans and even an active issue for the Supreme Court and presidential candidates. That is simply fantastic and amazing. Homosexuality is no longer looked at as a freak activity or a rare occurrence, now it’s part of society. Abuse of women these days is taken much more seriously than fifty years ago. We do not live in a country anymore were domestic violence can be a passive issue.
