Also the Romans saw their emperors as gods unlike the Greeks. The Romans and Greeks also played similar games such as chess, checkers, cards, dice, and knucklebones. They both also played physical games, but to the Romans those games were played to show toughness and prepare for war. Games especially physical competitions were taken very seriously by the Greeks. The Greeks believed the gods wanted to see them strong, fit, and graceful. Another reason they were taken so seriously was because the people thought that the gods did not favor them if they did not win at these games. The Greeks and Romans were both prosperous in the sciences. The Romans excelled in medicine and engineering, and the Greeks excelled in mathematics and astronomy.
