In his heart John knew he was doing the right thing by working long hours, his family had a house to live in, nice cars and money to spend on what they wanted. At first Megan his wife didn’t really mind because she knew that John loved his work and would do anything for his family. One night Megan waited for John at home, to celebrate there five year anniversary, she staid up all night and John never came home. At first she didn’t tell him anything, she just kept it to her self but she watched him and started to notice little things about him that were starting to change. ‘The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or involved in something’ (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=addiction). Addiction is a very strong word and to a lot of people it destroys there entire life. John came from a strict family that supported him and his brothers at all times. John’s father worked as a bricklayer and his mom would stay home with the kids. His father would drink everyday when he got out of work and would come home drunk, John and his brothers would go hide in there room, afraid of what might there father do to them. Working those long hours and the stress from making the dead lines at work started to get to John, so he started having a couple of drinks after work. He would never really drink, only on special occasions. Always afraid of ending up a drunk like his father. Hanging out more and more with his co workers at the bars or at a friend’s house, John started to have big problems at home. Megan started getting upset because of the long hours at work and coming home smelling like alcohol. She understood his work but ...
