...nse, proprietary, managerial, administrative, maintenance or other legal or equitable interest: computers (desktops, servers, laptops, PDAs); printers; software; data storage media; device and systems; Audio-Visual media (TV, DVD/CD players, Cassettes/players); HIS Network; and any other hardware, software, information or other technology attached or connected to, installed in or otherwise used in connection or associated with any of the foregoing. The use of a computer or other equipment that is not a resource (e.g.: a personally owned computer) in conjunction with resources (eg: the HIS Network) shall constitute the use of resources and shall be covered by these regulations. 2.2. HIS Network – All components that may be used to effect operation of HONOUR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Computer Network, including computers; copper and fibre cabling; wireless communication and links; equipment closets and enclosures and other facilities; network electronics; telephone lines, modems and other peripherals and equipment; data storage media, device and systems; software; and other computer and/or networks to which the HIS Network may be connected, such as the internet. 2.3. Potential Users – HIS faculty, staff, administration, students, certain authorized individuals performing work for the school, other individuals affiliated with the school. The school shall as part of its aim to provide quality education, assume responsibility to provide and maintain the Resources in good state. In this regard, the Director shall appoint one employee to be responsible for the maintenance of the said Resources. No one else whatsoever and when ever shall operate the servers or change the configuration of any computer. The designated official will also instruct other members of the staff and faculty about “dos and don’ts” of the Resources. 3. Computers and AV Media Usage Regulations It is expected that all the Potential Users respect the Resources with which they have been provided and realize that using the Resources is a privilege and not a right. This privilege can be withdrawn if necessary. 3.1. The computers in the faculty lounge are for the members of the faculty only; no one else is entitled to use these computers. 3.2. The office computers are only for the office employees; no one else is entitled to use these computers. One of the office employees will be responsible for making daily/weekly backups of office documents and at the same time download and upgrade anti-virus definitions. 3.3. The computers in the classroom can be used by the students only under the guidance and presence of the teacher. 3.4. The computers in the library can be used by the students only under the supervision of the library official. 3.5. It is prohibited: 3.5.1. To play games on the computer. 3.5.2. To install any other program than those allowed by the Director and the maintenance official. 3.5.3. To tamper with the computers. DO NOT open the PC cabinet under any circumstance unless under the guidance and supervision of the teacher as a part of the curriculum. 3.5.4. To swap around any equipment. That is, no changing of keyboard, mice or other peripherals from one computer to another. 3.5.5. To alter or attempt to change the operating system or the computer environment (eg: DO NOT alter the desktop, screen saver, icons, shortcuts) 3.5.6. To install/uninstall any hardware or software unless under the guidance and supervision of the teacher as a part of the curriculum. Any irregularity should be reported immediately to the maintenance official. 4. Printing and Photocopying Usage Regulations The school provides printing facilities for the Potential Users to obtain printouts of their work. Potential Users are expected to use the printers for school purposes only and endeavour to keep paper wastage to a minimum. 4.1. Before printing, proofread, spell check and print preview your document. 4.2. When completely satisfied with the final product, print the document. 4.3. Place unwanted printouts in recycling boxes. 4.4. The photocopy machine(s) will only be used by the receptionist and/or his/her assistant; no one else is entitled to use these machine(s). 5. Internet and HIS Network Usage Regulations Computer access to people all over the world (via the internet) brings the availability of material that may not be of educational value in the context of a school setting.
