... brainwashed. 10 years ago the athletes made the game interesting because they wanted the people to watch them play. Athletes loved the game and didn’t care about popularity and money. What are pro athletes selling? Half the time now the athletes are selling a product or being paid to do a stupid add they don’t even care about. Why did this happen? I think this happened because of the increase of demand for players in different sports. As the leagues grew with more teams so did the demand of good players. This cost teams money. Teams were negotiating players money wise and trading for different aspects of the game. This led to players to think they could be greedy and receive more money then already decided. Even though the leagues wouldn’t want to, they would have to because of the demand for the good players. They needed good players to attract crowds and support teams and players.
