... I understand both the practical and artistic issues which must be taken into consideration when acting for the camera—such as continuity problems, hitting my mark, and toning down my projection. I can better determine my on-camera strengths and learn to accentuate them. I now am more knowledgeable of equipment, terminology, protocol and procedure that is specific to and necessary for finding work as a film/television performer. In addition to being trained basics on camera acting techniques, we also gained knowledge on the process of finding work from agent to audition, casting director to callback, to getting the gig and getting on camera. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Perhaps for future classes, you might consider some additional ideas such as dividing the various components of camera jobs (feature films, commercials, sitcoms, one-hour episodics, etc.), and after learning the appropriate techniques for that particular genre, students could spend time in front of the camera working with exercises and actual commercial, film and TV scenes. Perhaps maybe even a group project, putting into practice what has been learned earlier. It would be nice to know a little more about staging and blocking scenes, and perhaps to have a mock audition. This class was great for helping to improve my poise and self-confidence. I really enjoyed the opportunity it gave me to step a little outside my comfort zone, and it helped improve my public speaking skills tenfold.
