I believe that the death penalty is very hypocritical, you are telling people that it is wrong to ever kill someone whether there was a good reason in their opinion or not and then you kill them and explain that you have a good reason. That is like parents who tell their kids not to smoke as they go outside to have a cigarette, then they wonder why their kid smoke. Another reason why the death penalty could never be effective is because there is not always a definitive way to tell if a person is totally innocent or guilty. There have been cases where someone was executed for a crime that they did not actually commit and nothing happens to the prosecutors or the judge who sentenced them to death. In general, the death penalty is inflicted on black people who kill a white person, or a white person who kills another white person.
