How Latin will help my life

...re. When I am translating sentences in Latin, I don’t know what sounds good or not, so I have to make sure its perfect, and that makes me more aware in what to do in English. When the day comes, that you are forced to take the S.A.T’s, you will be feeling good. You studied for the math section, you reviewed all your grammatical rules, you got that down, but when it comes to English vocabulary, you don’t know how it will turn out, because you can’t study but so many words. If you were smart, you would have taken Latin, and then you would be all set for this monster of a test. Here are some test scores taken from the Verbal part of the SAT’s: All students: 506 LATIN: 665 Spanish: 583 French: 633 German: 625 Out of other students taking a foreign language, Spanish students scored the lowest. I don’t know why French and German students scored higher than the Spanish students, but maybe they involve more English related material. It may be some what of a Coincidence, or maybe not. It is quite obvious that all Latin students out rank other foreign language students my leaps and bounds. Latin also helps me in reading complicated, advance books. Some books I read are so complicated, every other word I need to look up in a dictionary, which can get very boring. With Latin, it helps me get the idea of the word without taking the time away from reading the book. It feels really good that all that hard word I did is actually paying off in my life. Though just by taking Latin won’t help your vocabulary, you have to know a lot of the Latin vocabulary until you will really see a difference. If sometime in the future I plan on visiting a foreign country, I may want to learn their language, so I can act like I know what I’m talking about. Sense Latin is the basis for basically all the romance languages, I have a wide range of places I could visit and actually look smart without spending years learning the fundamentals of the language. I would probably catch on fast, and just have to worry about learning vocabulary. This proves there is no limit to what you can do, if you just take the time to learn Latin firs...
