...be working in the communications department. It is in this department where all the marketing and advertisement activities are conducted. In sports it is the media that sells the idea of the team to the people. That is why the communications department is the one that takes charge of advertising the team in order to acquire loyal fans every day. In my internship I will not only learn matters pertaining to my major. I will enter into new frontiers such as public relations and communication activities. I will work under the direct supervision of Brad Feldman, Director of Communications, and will have the following responsibilities: 1) Coordinate/cooperate with other departments in order to maximize ticket sales 2) Respond to media requests 3) Manage press clippings 4) Assist with the generation of team publications 5) Write follow up letters 6) Develop specific ticketing strategies for specific markets The opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience can be done with the help of this internship. It’s the area of sports management where I want to work all my life. This has been a dream of mine since I was 14 years old. I have prepared myself with classes and other internships in order to be able to work in a sports environment. As a management major I have taken classes such as Marketing Management, MIS, and Advertisement and Promotion that will help me in all the marketing duties I have to perform. In the extracurricular activities side, I have had the experience to do an internship at another soccer academy. There I worked with all the management activities under the direct supervision of the general manager. Along with my courses and experience my knowledge for soccer makes a big difference for my preparation. This knowledge has been acquired through all my years of playing soccer.
