...The characters that let fear influence there decision the most throughout the entire play, would have been Reverend Samuel Parris, Betty Parris, John Proctor and the Girls of Salem. Because of the fear of being punished the girls pretended to not be able to move. Fear of humiliation and of disgracing his name is also what kept John from confessing what he had done with Abigail. The fear of what Abigail would do to them is what made the girls in Salem lie and pretend, in response to Abigail’s threat. The outcomes of these causes are what makes the play interesting and also provides it with more subplots and depth to the play. The outcome of the girls not moving is basically what starts the story and leads into the belief in witchcraft. With John giving in to his fear it leads to the trial going on longer than it could have been, if he would of came out with the truth in the beginning. Now of the girls going along with Abigail out of fear. It is know that if they would of acted different that the play would of turned out completely different. Because if they would of told the truth there would have been no trials and there would have basically had been no play. Because of the choices that these people made in fear, it helped lead to the final resolution of the play. It helped lead to all the other themes. For instance with the avalanc...
