ACT 2 1) What happens during the famous “Balcony scene” is that Juliet comes out onto the balcony and starts talking/saying about how she feels about Romeo, not knowing he was in the orchard listening. Then after a little while he came out of the orchard and started to talk to her, at first she was upset because he was hiding from her listening to what she was saying. But soon after she was alright and then she agreed that if Romeo could find someone who will marry them, then she will marry Romeo. 2) The reason why Friar Laurence agreed to perform the marriage ceremony is because he thought it might bring peace between the Capulets and the Montagues. 3) The reason why the nurse goes to Romeo is because she tells him what time and where Juliet and he will get married. 4) Romeo tells the nurse to tell Juliet to go and shrift in the afternoon and that there will be Friar Laurence, where they will receive the sacrament of marriage. ACT 3 Tybalt challenges Romeo to a duel because he is angry that Romeo came to the Capulet feast. Romeo does not want to fight because he is now married to Juliet. So Mercutio, who is Romeo’s friend, fights Tybalt because he thinks Romeo has been insulted. Romeo tries to separate the two but at that moment Tybalt, fatally wounds Mercutio. When Romeo realises Mercutio is dead, he fights Tybalt and kills him. The Prince arrives and Benvolio tells him what happened. Lady Capulet wants Romeo dead, but the prince decides two deaths are enough and Romeo’s punishment will be banishment from Verona. Romeo goes to Friar Laurence who tells him to go and spend the night with Juliet then leave very early in the morning for Mantua. Lord Capulet decides the marriage between Juliet and Paris will take place on Thursday. He thinks this will comfort Juliet because he believes she is grieving for Tybalt. (We know she is broken-hearted because Romeo has been banished.) When Juliet refuses to marry Paris, Lord Capulet is furious and threatens to throw Juliet out of the house. Juliet asks the Nurse’s advice and she tells her to forget about Romeo and marry Paris. Juliet cannot believe what she has heard and feels she can never trust the Nurse again. ACT 4 1) What Friar Laurence says to Juliet when she comes to him for advice is that he will give her a potion that will not kill her but out her to sleep for several hours, so when Paris see’s her supposedly dead he will kill himself. This is because Juliet does not want to marry Paris. 2) The effects of the potion are a cold and drowsy humour for no pulse, no warmth, no breath, be as pale as ashes, no movement and she will be asleep and wake up in two and forty hours. 3) When Juliet tells Capulet that she is sorry and that she will marry Paris, Capulet is very delighted and pleased and changes the date to Wednesday. 4) What Juliet thinks might happen when she takes the potion is firstly she thinks it will not work and that she will have to marry Paris and then she thought that it may kill her. 5) What the Capulet family thinks has happened to Juliet is that they think that she ...
